The ISO Certification Journey - Outspan Teaching & Referral Hospital/Medical College

This is a very proud moment for every member of the Outspan community as we celebrate the attainment of Accreditation against ISO Standard 15189:2012 for Medical Laboratory and ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System Certification, which are global Management Systems

Indeed ‘A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step’ is a famous Chinese Quote we all love to quote.

At outspan we have a quality theme as part of our culture Right from inception Quality was listed amongst the institutional core values

We also have a Philosophy ‘doing the right things , first time and all the time’

The incorporation of quality in our fundamental statements as an institution has gone a long way in shaping the quality culture within the institution. As a member of the Strategic plan (2017-2026)committee vividly remember when we set the timelines to attain ISO Certification as part of the journey towards the realization our VISION to become a global reference university in training service-oriented professionals and providing wholistic affordable quality healthcare solutions

The road to ISO certification officially commenced on 12th of June 2019, when we embarked on the first gap analysis towards the accreditation of the laboratory, then on 30th September 2021 towards certification against the quality management system requirements

This was followed by a series of intense training sessions for all staff including the top management.

The capacity building was to help everyone understand the requirements respective standards

The next phase involved aligning our institutional documentation i.e the processes, policy and work instructions to the requirements of the standards, Validation swiftly followed.

The journey had its challenges

It was around MARCH 2020 that the NOVEL CORONAVIRUS struck Pandemic and we had to reorganize ourselves ADOPTING virtual meetings to complete the validation of the documentation, for the college we also had to adopt the online learning platforms too, e-learning policies were fully implemented since the learning institutions were closed. This affected the momentum and our target dates for completion. PREVIOUSLY (Dec 2020)

come May 2021 , We Embarked on our journey , Refreshed our auditors in collaboration with our mentors in the certification Journey (AMC GROUP)

Implementation phase was marked by ISO Launches which were conducted by our Executive director on 27th June 2021, 7TH AUGUST 2021 in the Outspan Hospital and Outspan Medical College respectively

The audit phase several audits were conducted
